Hi, I'm back with yet another product review but this time, it's from a mid-end makeup brand. If you have noticed, most of the products I use are from drugstore brands and that's because I don't want to spend too much on makeup by buying mid to high-end products. Why would I if I could get the same or nearly the same quality with drugstore products? Well, maybe when I'm older and not struggling with the 'adulting' stage of life, then I will.
Anyway, I'm going to review this highlighter from Too Faced which is called the Candlelight Glow in the shade Rosy Glow. This product is in travel size as it is actually included in the Too Faced Let It Glow kit, which you can purchase from Sephora. However, I got this from an Instagram shop and was sold as set along some items from other brands.
The packaging of this product is made of plastic in color black, different from that of the full size which is gold. Not that glorious but not that cheap looking as well. Pretty decent, I guess.
What I like about this product is that even in travel size, the Too Faced logo is still engraved on the powder. Too Faced dubbed this as "highlighting power duo" because it has two shades in a compact—one is ivory and the other is rosy.
Now, let's go to the actual thing which is the swatches. Are they good? Well, the powder itself has a seemly buttery texture. When dabbed with finger, the pigmentation is nice and when swatched, both give a nice sheen. Although, the ivory comes off a wee better when it comes to the pigment.

The initial swatch of this highlighter is a little sheer so you need to layer up if you're a glow sucker like me. It's also easy to blend so you won't have a problem with layering. Notice that the ivory shade is more of a gold sheen, while the rosy has a reddish tone in it. When mixed, they come off just the exact tone—not too yellow and not too pink.
What I can really say about this highlighter is it's pretty good but nothing to rave about. I think it would be perfect for a quite natural look, the one being used in weddings or special occasions, but I wouldn't wear this for parties and night outs. Also, I haven't tried its longevity yet because I've been off from wearing makeup lately due to breakouts—which I will blog about later—but I can tell that it's not waterproof as it easily wears off when smudged.
VERDICT:
PROS:
- Good pigmentation
- Nice sheen
- Easily blends
- Great for natural look
CONS:
- Not to be used for night outs
- Needs retouch from time-to-time
- Not really worthy of its price (P1,773 for a full size)
WOULD I REPURCHASE? Maybe. I think though that there are products from other brands that give better glow with cheaper price than this.
